Growing up in Osun State, I attended Saint Claire’s Nursery and Primary School and Our Lady of Saint Francis Catholic College (OSCCO) in Osogbo, where I cultivated a deep appreciation for hard work and the strength of community. Now, with over 15 years of experience as a communications expert in both the private sector—working with
multinational organizations—and the public sector at a global level, I bring a unique perspective to governance. It is from this lens that I commend the remarkable achievements of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration as it celebrates two years in office.
Since assuming office in November 2022, Governor Adeleke has demonstrated what focused and compassionate leadership can achieve. Osun State has undergone significant improvements across critical sectors such as infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and security. Roads that were once neglected are being rebuilt, reconnecting communities and promoting economic activities. Healthcare facilities have
been upgraded and equipped to provide quality care, ensuring that even the most vulnerable citizens are not left behind.
The governor’s focus on education has revitalized schools, improved teacher resources, and created better learning environments for students. Agriculture, a critical pillar of the state’s economy, has been boosted with policies that empower farmers, improve food security, and create jobs. Security efforts have also been intensified, creating a safer environment for citizens and businesses alike.
What stands out most to me, however, is the administration’s commitment to sustainability. I learned with great admiration that Governor Adeleke has not borrowed a single kobo in his two years in office, yet the level of development achieved is undeniable. This prudent financial approach ensures that progress is made without saddling future generations with debt. To me, this is laying a long-term foundation for sustainable growth and development—an example of fiscal responsibility that sets a benchmark for others.
Central to this administration’s success is the invaluable contribution of seasoned professionals like Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, the Chief of Staff. With decades of administrative experience at both local and state levels, Alhaji Akinleye plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective delivery of the governor’s agenda. His leadership in coordinating various arms of government has strengthened the implementation of policies, driving efficiency and tangible results for the people of Osun, underscoring the
governor’s commitment to delivering on his promises. The Chief of Staff’s office has become a cornerstone of this administration’s achievements, bridging plans and real-world outcomes.
Equally remarkable is Governor Adeleke’s inclusion of young, innovative minds in his government. Among the many talented technocrats in the administration are Azeez Badmus, Special Adviser on Innovation, Science, Technology, and Digital Economy, and Bankole Omisore, Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals and Multilateral Relations. Both bring private-sector expertise and fresh ideas to public service, representing a bold and progressive step by the governor to open up governance to
capable, dynamic individuals. This infusion of youthful energy, combined with the guidance of experienced leaders, reflects a government that is both forward-thinking and inclusive.
Another commendable aspect of this administration is the respect and dignity it accords public servants. Salaries are paid promptly, welfare is prioritized, and policies are designed with the people’s interests at heart. My mother, who serves in the public sector in Osun State, has often remarked on the stark contrast between this administration and
past ones, particularly in the improved welfare conditions she now enjoys.
During a recent visit to Osun State, I was struck by the tangible transformation underway. From urban centers to rural areas, it is evident that development is happening in a deliberate and thoughtful manner. The projects being implemented are not just about aesthetics; they are about improving lives and building a state that works for everyone.
With my extensive background in private-sector leadership and public service in Canada, I can confidently say that Governor Adeleke’s administration exemplifies what governance should be. His leadership proves that it is possible to balance development with fiscal responsibility, infrastructure with human dignity, and ambition with
sustainability.
As we celebrate the remarkable strides achieved under Governor Adeleke’s leadership, I am confident that the administration will continue to prioritize the transformational impact of education. Strengthening the educational sector further will not only empower future generations but also reinforce the state’s position as a beacon of progress and innovation. With sustained focus on this critical area, Osun can inspire a legacy of excellence and opportunity for all its citizens.
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Governor Ademola Adeleke and his team. Their work has set Osun State on a promising path, and I am optimistic about what lies ahead. This is a proud moment for Osun, and I believe the state’s best days are still to come under this exceptional leadership.
