Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has laid the foundation for the construction of the $50 million soya bean oil refining plant in the Igabi Local Government area of the state.
Speaking during the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Sani said the Soya Bean Oil Refining Plant, with an expected production capacity of 500,000 litres per day, will contribute to the economic development of Kaduna and Nigeria by creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs across the production value chain.
Governor Sani said the direct foreign investment brought to his state by Sunagrow International will enable the transfer of technology and technical know-how related to soya bean extraction and refinery processes, thereby leading to the development of local expertise in the field.
“I am delighted to perform the groundbreaking for the construction of the $50 million soybean oil refining plant by Sunagrow International Oil Ltd. at Kutungare, Igabi LG, Kaduna State.
“When completed, the $50 million Soya Bean Oil Refining Plant will have a production capacity of 500,000 litres per day. It will also contribute to the economic development of Kaduna and Nigeria by creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs at various skill levels, from agricultural labourers to skilled technicians and engineers for the refinery operations.
The establishment of this soya bean extraction and refinery project will enable the addition of value to agricultural products by processing them into higher-value products such as soya oil and meal, thus increasing the income potential for farmers.
“The Sunagrow 50-million-dollar oil plant will have an economic multiplier effect and create opportunities for local businesses to supply raw materials, services, and support activities for the company. This will, in turn, improve our local economy.
“Similarly, there will be a transfer of technology and technical know-how related to soya extraction and refinery processes, leading to the development of local expertise in the field.
“On behalf of the good people of Kaduna State, I want to thank the management of Sunagrow International Oil Ltd. for seeing such a huge investment in our state. I urge the management to equally invest in community development initiatives in areas of education, healthcare, and social welfare programmes and adopt oil extraction methods that are environmentally friendly.
“I call on other investors to avail themselves of the huge opportunities in Kaduna State, especially in agriculture, renewable energy, infrastructure, mining, manufacturing, transportation, ICT, and tourism. We offer very attractive incentives. We extend not just an invitation but a steadfast guarantee that their investments in Kaduna State will be nurtured by a robust policy framework and unwavering support,” he said.
Earlier in his welcome address, Managing Director of Sunagrow International Oil Limited, Mr. Ritesh Argawal, said the company was inspired by Governor Sani’s vision for the economic development of Kaduna State.
He said the governor’s proactive efforts in facilitating the necessary approvals and providing the required support were instrumental in enabling Sunagrow to commence the significant undertaking.
“Your vision for the economic development of Kaduna State has inspired us, and we are honoured to contribute to its realisation.
“As we embark on this journey together, we are mindful of the trust and confidence you have placed in us. Rest assured, we are fully committed to delivering on our promises and upholding the highest standards of excellence in our operations.
“With your continued guidance and support, we are confident that this project will not only succeed but also serve as a testament to the fruitful partnership between Sunagrow International Oil Company Limited and the government of Kaduna State.
“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in our shared commitment to the progress and prosperity of Kaduna State. We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and look forward to working closely with you and your esteemed administration to ensure the success of this project,” Argawal said.
