Gov Nwifuru swears-in 64 development centre coordinators in Ebonyi

Published by

Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, swore in 13 women and 51 men as Development Centre Coordinators across the 13 local government areas of the state on Tuesday.

The DC coordinators were sworn in at the State Executive Council Chamber of Government House, Centenary City, Abakaliki.

Development centres are sub-divisions of local governments in the state. They were created by the first civilian governor of the state, Sen. Sam Egwu, to bring development closer to its roots.

34 of them were created by the Egwu administration, while Egwu’s successor, Chief Martin Elechi, increased the number of centres to 64.

The last coordinators appointed by former governor David Umahi, who is now Minister of Works, were dissolved last year when his administration was winding up.

Governor Francis Nwifuru last week forwarded a list of those he appointed as coordinators to the state House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

Nwifuru, however, charged them to go to the local governments in the state and bring development to their areas and the state.
