Gombe Police Command has arrested 5 suspects for alleged shop breaking and looting shops in some locations within the State just as various stolen items were recovered as exhibits.
A press statement by the Command PPRO, ASP Mahid Mu’azu Abubakar revealed that, “on 14/08/2023 at about 15:00hrs, one Rabiu Lauwali Aged 35 years of Dogon Ruwa village, via Kamo- Tungo, Awak, Kaltungo LGA reported at Awak Police Divisional Headquarters that unknown persons broke into his shop.
“In the process, they stole 60 Android phones and over 70 Keypads phones, Airtel recharge cards valued, MTN recharge cards, GLO recharge cards, and the sum of N130,000 all valued at N3,620,000.
“Meanwhile, following credible intelligence and discreet investigation, one suspect, Sulaiman Lauwali aged 21 years of Dogon Ruwa village via Awak, Kaltungo LGA was arrested.
“A Search warrant was executed at the suspect’s houses, and the following exhibits were recovered; 17 Android phones; 25 keypad phones; 20 Tecno batteries; MTN, Airtel and GLO recharge cards.
“Also recovered was the sum of N65,920, One clipper; 8; MP 5; MP Battery; 1 power bank; 28 sim cards; 29 memory cards and 1 plasma LG TV. The case will be charged to court.
“Similarly, on 03/08/2023 at about 0130hrs one Dauda Ishaq of old market Gombe and 17 others reported at Gombe Divisional Headquarters and made a formal complaint.
“They alleged that on the same date, about 0130hrs, unknown hoodlums criminally conspired within themselves, broke into 15 tailoring shops located at the said old market and stole different products of sewing/designing machines and clothing materials worth Thousands of Naira after they successfully stole the said items the hoodlums set ablaze 10 shops out of 15.
“On receipt of the complaint, Police detectives from Gombe Division swung into action and arrested four suspects in connection to the crime.
“The arrested suspects are: Rabiu Mohammed, aged 18 of Wuro Biriji; Laminu Yayaji aged 18 of Herwagana quarters; Machel Yunusa aged 19 of Manawachi and Abdullahi Musa aged 16 of Malam-innan qts.
“During investigation, the following items were recovered; Two butterfly Sewing machines, Seven Wrappers.
“Case will soon be charged court upon the conclusion of the investigation”.
Reacting, the Commissioner of Police, CP Oqua Etim, urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any information that may lead to the arrest of criminal elements.
