Gombe donates fire fighting trucks to Federal Fire Service

Gombe State Government has donated two brand new and fully equipped hilux vehicles to the state command of the Federal Fire Service to boost its fire fighting capabilities.

The donation was in fulfillment of the earlier promise made recently by the State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya in order to boost fire fighting in the state.

While commissioning the two vehicles alongside a dual purpose fire fighting truck, Inuwa Yahaya commended President Muhammadu Buhari for providing leadership through the Federal Ministry of Interior and the Federal Fire Service whose synergy with Gombe State is aiding the efforts at protecting the lives and property of the citizenry, especially during disasters.

The Governor added that, “You may recall that in July this year when we gathered here to commission the ultra modern fire fighting vehicle deployed to Gombe State, we pledged to support the service by providing them with these hilux vehicles that can be used to access hard to reach areas and as utility vans for staff and thank God we have been able to deliver on our promise today.”

He also said that the vehicles were provided by his administration to support the Federal Fire Service to deliver on its mandate which is to provide safety to the people, saying no amount of money is too much to spend in the bid to save lives and property of the citizens of the state.

He added that Gombe State Government is determined to ensure synergy with the Federal Government in order to provide security and safety of lives and property of the citizenry, assuring the Federal Fire Service that his administration will continue to support its operations for maximum productivity.

“Very soon like I promised, we will provide a befitting office in the heart of the metropolis where Gombe line is situated once the Gombe mega park is completed and the transport company moves out, the Federal Fire Service and indeed any other facility that will be useful centrally for the people to enjoy and benefit will be located within the centre of the capital city so that there will be access and service can easily get to the people whenever it is needed,” the Governor added.

Inuwa Yahaya called on the people of the state to give the Federal Fire Service the much-needed support and cooperation to enable them to operate successfully.

The Governor said the Gombe State Government under his leadership had earlier refurbished about 7 hitherto abandoned fire fighting trucks owned by the State fire service, adding that his government will continue to do more in order to save lives and property of the people.

Earlier speaking, the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Liman Alhaji Ibrahim, represented by Assistant Controller-General in charge of zone I, Philip Odu, commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the prompt redemption of his pledge to provide the service with two Hilux vehicles, pledging to ensure judicious use of the operational vans as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General, ( Press Affairs), Government House, Gombe.
