Girl Child Day: Rotary club begins to subsidies sanitary pad

Rotary club Jalingo prestige, on Monday, said it has plans to appeal for a possible reduction of sanitary pad prices.

Mr Jerry Oliver, president of the club disclosed this while speaking at the lecture on menstrual hygiene and waste management disposal, in commemoration of international girl child day, title, (PAD A GIRL project) which was held at government college Jalingo.

Oliver said the club has due to the present hardship in the country and the number of vulnerable girls in the society, made available plans to approach the Taraba State house of Assembly and producers or sanitary pad to see how prices of the commodity would be reduced in the market to enhance the hygiene of the girl child.

He said girl child hygiene was key to ensuring societal general hygiene.

“We have come to lecture you on your menstrual hygiene and distribute sanitary pads to improve your menstrual hygiene,” the club president expressed.

Mrs Tina Kungaba Garbobiyar who received the sanitary pad for the School, thanked the Rotary club Jalingo prestige for the gesture.
