Gilfai, FCA build unemployed youths, women’s capacity on poultry value chain

GILFAI Nigeria Limited in conjunction with the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, on Monday began a 5-day training programme on poultry production, processing and marketing for 100 unemployed youths and women from various part of the 36 states of the federation.

Consultant to the facilitator of the training, Professor Boye Omole, told participants that they would be taken through the rudiments of poultry production which include practical demonstration, materials needed to guide them during the course of the training.

In her remarks during the opening ceremony of the programme, Provost, Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan, Dr Mrs Elizabeth Augustus, admonished participants to be punctual, cooperate with the resource personnel and interact freely throughout the duration of the programme.

She said, doing this would help them acquire the necessary skills that will equip them for the challenges that they may face in the process of being a successful poultry farmer.

Representative of the facilitator of the training, Glifai Nigeria Limited, Mr Oduola Osunbunmi, while addressing participants informed that the specific goal is to: reduce unemployment among youths and women in Nigeria; to augment the source of income of the participants; to reduce social vices such as kidnapping, terrorism, vandalisation of public properties among the youths and to improve the standard of living of youths and women in Nigeria.
