Gender advocate and feminist, Roseline Adewuyi, recently celebrated three years of active blogging through her blog: roselineadewuyi.com.
According to Adewuyi, she founded the blog in 2018 to contribute to the gender narrative in the society and also to challenge the stereotypes around gender and feminist discourse.
“I launched my blog three years ago, and I have published no fewer than 171 articles,” she said. “The main aim of my blog is to write on issues affecting girls and women. And, to commemorate this occasion, some cash is up for grabs.”
To mark the anniversary, Adewuyi organised a writing contest. The contest was based on people’s writings published in her blog. These contest writings were posted on Facebook, and the three writings with the highest likes won the three prizes.
Timileyin Olayanju won the first prize position (N150,000), with 190 likes on Facebook for her writing; Kunle Adegunloye won the second prize position (N100,000), with 140 likes on Facebook for his writing and Adenike Okunade won the third prize position (N50,000), with 99 likes on Facebook for his writing.
“There will also be academic mentorships for the winners with experts in their fields,” Adewuyi said. “Thank you to everyone who participated and also shared with people in their circle. I really appreciate. It means a lot to me. It will definitely get better.”
She admitted that she is a flawed human being, and that in her quest to broach sensitive issues, there might have been missteps. On that note, she added that she would like people to share their thoughts with her regarding how she can serve them better or how she could correct her mistakes.
She also admitted that she considers blogging quite tasking and might be doing some things wrongly. However, she added that she is open for mentorship and lessons as regards blogging.
“All in all, thanks for being a part of my community, and I look forward to reading from you soon, even as I hope to constantly have you as my untiring readership,” she concluded.
