Ganduje advocates federal law prohibiting street begging

Published by

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has said there is a need for the enactment of a federal law prohibiting street begging which has become rampant in all parts of the country.

Gov Ganduje made the assertion during the 2nd national conference organised by the Faculty of Education, Bayero University Kano, saying the law would compel parents/guardians to enrol their children/wards in school.

“Our administration is doing everything possible to address all the challenges facing the educational sector in the state,” he said while noting that the law would promote access to quality religious and western education.

According to him, the security challenges and terrorist activities had created more educational problems in the North-East and some states in the North-West of the country.

While also speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of the Conference, Prof Abdulrasheed Garba, applauded the Kano State government for allocating over 26% of its 2022 budget to education, urging other state governments to emulate.
