THE Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Dutse (FUD), Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammed said the university has received the sum of N165.8 million TETFUND zonal invention for teaching and learning equipment procurement.
The Vice Chancellor made the disclosure in Dutse during his second media interactive session with Journalists, saying “within the last few months, we have been able to access N165.8 million TETFUND zonal invention for the procurement of equipment for the college of medicine and health sciences.”
Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Muhammed explained that “equipment also purchased for department of physics, facility of computing, department of biochemistry, sport directorate, among others.”
According to him, “the university purchased over 1,000 medical books, especially books on pre-medical, medical journals.”
“This is part of the efforts to strengthen our medical programme and in preparation for accreditation of Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) and National University Commission (NUC),” Professor Muhammed emphasis.
He stated further that “we have installed servers in the library so that students can access Open Educational Resources electronically such as e-book and e-journals both on and offline.”
The Vice Chancellor added that plans are underway for the establishment of the faculty of phamacuetical sciences, reiterating that “this will complement our medical programme. Already, we have a department of pharmacology in the college of medicine and health sciences and so we will use that as a take-off point.”
