THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised inter-state commuters to desist from travelling inside container trucks. FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, Clement Oladele, gave the warning in a chat with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ota on Wednesday.
Oladele said seven people were killed inside a container truck during an accident at Alapako-Ogunmakin area of Ota on Tuesday.
He advised motorists to be cautious and obey traffic signs so as to reduce crashes on the roads. He also warned drivers against dangerous driving and overtaking, attributing Tuesday’s accident to recklessness on the part of the driver of the container truck.
The FRSC official said that 10 people were killed at the same spot on Jan. 9, and stressed the need to put in place preventive measures to avert further crashes in the area.
NAN reports that the FRSC official and Federal Controller of Works, Ogun, Dr Yinka Popolola, on Jan. 16 met with officials of RCC Construction Company to discuss safety measures on the Lagos – Ibadan expressway under rehabilitation.
