Four-yr-old boy kidnapped during Benue communal clash rescued, gets govt scholarship

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has offered a scholarship to a four-year-old boy, Moses Ejeh who was kidnapped recently.

Ejeh was rescued by some stakeholders in Konshisha local government area of Benue State at the weekend.

The boy whose parents are of Igede extraction was reportedly abducted two weeks ago during the clash between Ochoro and Bonta in Konshisha local government area.

Governor Ortom was reported to have given a marching order to the people of Bonta in Konshisha council area to ensure the release of the little boy unhurt.

Stakeholders from the council led by the Chairman, James Jirgba on Sunday presented the rescued boy to Governor Ortom at Government House, Makurdi where he was offered a scholarship from nursery school to the university level.

The governor directed Commissioner for Education, Professor Dennis Ityavyar, to process the scholarship for immediate action, adding that the boy’s rescue was a miracle having been kidnapped and released unhurt.

Ortom said that the only legacy to bequeath to a child is education and stressed that children who are the future of the state and Nigeria at large and must be protected.

Governor Ortom condemned the abduction and reaffirmed the resolve of his administration to fight crime in all ramifications.

He also commended the leaders of Konshisha for securing the release of the boy, even as he admonished the youth against crimes.

Senator representing Benue North East, Dr Gabriel Suswam who was also present, condemned the act and described it as unacceptable.
