Four feared killed in Delta communities over land dispute

Four persons have been feared killed during a gun duel between Okwagbe and Owahwa communities in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State over an age-long land dispute.

Amid sketchy details, it was gathered late Thursday that the two neighbouring communities engaged themselves in a heavy gun duel leaving several casualties in its wake.

It was gathered that while three persons were feared dead on the side of Okwagbe, one death was recorded in Owahwa.

A local source told our reporter that: “Yes, three were killed at Okwagbe, one killed at Okwakwa community over an age-long land dispute. The dispute resurfaced. Police deployed to the area.”

Okwagbe is a village in the Ughelli South Local Government Area located along the Forçados River and shares boundaries with the Oginibo, Okuemor, Otegbo, Owahwa, Egbo-Ide, and Okreka (Ofonibaya) communities, among others.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident but did not give details of the number of casualties.
