Former Jigawa environment commissioner dies at 73

The former Jigawa State Commissioner of Environment, Alhaji Barau Abdullahi Gambasha is dead.

The ex-commissioner died at the age of 73 in Dutse general hospital of the state capital on Friday night after a brief illness.

 The state governor, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, has sent a condolence message to the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Nuhu Muhammad Sunusi over the death of Alhaji Barau Abdullahi Gambasha, Dan Malikin of Dutse.

This was contained in a statement by the Special Assistant to the governor on Media and Publicity, Alhaji Habibu Nuhu Kila posted on his Facebook wall expressing that the governor was deeply saddened with the news of the death of Alhaji Baurau Gambasha who was a former member of the state executive council and Commissioner of Environment.”

Kila in the statement described the late commissioner’s death as a great loss not only to his family but the state in general.

“Governor Badaru said Alhaji Barau Gambasha was a seasoned politician whose contributions to the political development in the state will ever be remembered.”

The late commissioner had since been buried according to Islamic rites.
