In line with the directives from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to conduct a forensic audit for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the forensic auditors have begun physical verification of projects awarded and executed by the Commission in Abia State.

Abia State which is one of the oil-producing states in the country has several projects constructed by the NDDC.

Recall that the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, said the final report of a forensic audit of NDDC will be ready by the end of July and presented to President Muhammadu Buhari for implementation.

The Principal Manager, Head of Projects NDDC Abia State Office, Kingsley Azu, conducted the forensic auditors to a 3.5km Umuomanta Mbawsi to Old Road road project in Isiala Ngwa Local Government Area constructed by the Commission.

He said, “we are inspecting a 3.5km road project with the name Instruction to urgently remedy failed and unmotorable sections of Umuomanta Mbawsi to Old Road.”

Azu said this place before now is not quite accessible because of its unmotorable nature.

“You can see how good it is now, the essence of doing the road is to ensure there is access to this community, their economic life improved, people who are sick will find easy access to hospitals,” he added.

Also, Mr Azu showed the auditors a Solar Power project located at Akiirika-Uku Ndoki in Ukwa East of Abia State.

In Umuanunu in Obingwa Local Government, the NDDC also completed the main Building of the Cottage Health Care Centre for the community.

Azu said the NDDC had also constructed another 3.5km of road and a 3km road in Isiala Ngwa Local government Area. He said there is also water projects, Solar street lights school buildings, rural electrification, healthcare project being executed by the Commission in the State.
