Food production: Improve road networks, AAEUN urges Oyo govt

The outgoing chairman, Oyo State chapter of Agriculture and Allied Employees’ Union of Nigeria (AAEUN), Mojeed Adesin Badiru, has appealed to the state government to improve road network in the state to boost “agricultural food production, thereby reducing the cost of living to the barest minimum.”

Badiru said this on Monday, during the third delegates’ conference of the association, held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Badiru also canvassed for availability of cocoa seedlings as well as palm produce and cashew seedlings to farmers, saying this would boost cash crop production in the state.

“Agriculture credit facilities should also be made available to farmers by the government to encourage both the existing and would-be farmers in Oyo State,” he added.

Badiru also called on the state government to extend occupational hazard allowance to other agricultural departments in the state’s Ministry of Agriculture Natural Resources and Rural Development, as well as other related agencies such as OYSADEP, ACCOS, Tree Crops Units and “in fact federal ministries of environment and agriculture.

He said doing this would “definitely improve agricultural productive both at the state and the federal levels.”

Meanwhile, the association, on Monday, swore in new executive members, who will serve a four-year term.

The new executive members include: Salami Mojeed Adelani, State Chairman; Majolagbe Ismail, State Vice Chairman; Yusuf Hakeem Oladele, State Treasurer; Aluko S.A State Women Coordinator; Kunle Bolorunduro; State Trustee; Popoola Oladapo Exekiel, State Welfare Officer; Kazeem Lasisi, State Ex-Officio 1; Ifeanyi Njoku, State Ex-Officio 2 and Okebukola Davies Damilola, State Ex-Officio 3.

The National Chairman of the association, Simon Anchaver, charged the new excos to focus on issues that would advance the cause of the members of the association.
