THE Federal Government has reiterated its determination to revamp the economy and take the nation out of recession next year.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF)), Mr Babachir David Lawal, said President Muhammadu Buhari is working hard to ensure great improvement in Nigeria’s economy in 2017 so as to return smiles to the faces of Nigerians.
He spoke in his office, when he received a delegation from the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Archdiocese of Abuja, led by the Archbishop, the Most Reverend Joseph Oche Job.
He stressed that the foundation for a diversified economy is already being laid, adding that the 2017 budget would strengthen the economy even further.
A statement by the Director of Press, SGF Office, Mr Bolaji Adebiyi, on Tuesday in Abuja quoted Lawal as saying that President Buhari remains determined and committed to the three major objectives of his administration, which are to improve national security, vigorously fight corruption and overhaul the economy.
He thanked the Church and indeed religious leaders across Nigeria for their support to the government, and implored them to continue to pray for the peace and security of the nation.
The Archbishop of Methodist Church, Abuja, Most Reverend Joseph Job, in his remarks, expressed the support of the Church for the Federal Government, in the fight against corruption, which he said, is the “number one enemy of our dear country Nigeria.”
He noted that the major ills of our society including youth unemployment, poor and weak infrastructure, injustice and insecurity, etc are all products of corruption.
