•summons school principal to Abuja
The Federal Ministry of Education (FME) has said it is conducting an official investigation into allegations against Mr Jatto, a teacher at Federal Government Girls’ College (FGGC), Benin City.
Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs Folasade Boriowo who made this known in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, assured the public of the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and upholding the integrity of educational institutions across the country.
She, however, noted that following a thorough review, it has been established that the case in question is not one of sexual harassment but an issue of high-handedness in classroom management, which was initially misrepresented.
“Earlier on, an investigative panel set up by the school has already submitted its report. The Preliminary findings indicate that Mr Jatto was on prep supervision duty at the time of the incident and was responding to a rowdy classroom situation,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the principal has been summoned to the Ministry Headquarters in Abuja for further clarification.
“Investigation is ongoing in respect of the allegations, the Ministry urges the public to exercise patience until the final investigation is concluded.
“The final findings of the investigation will be officially announced in due course.
“The Ministry remains committed to transparency and upholding the integrity of educational institutions across the country,” Boriowo stated in the statement.
