FG approves N6.386b for upgrade of airports terminals

NIGERIA’S Federal Executive Council (FEC) has again approved the sum of N6,386,996,442.29 for the award of contracts to improve some of the decaying and dilapidated infrastructures at country’s the airports.

Announcing this, the Special Adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina said the approval was the aftermath a memo from the Ministry of Aviation asking for the approval of the award of contracts for the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Ikeja, Lagos; Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, NAIA, Abuja; Malam Aminu Kano International Airport, MAKIA, Kano and Katsina Airport in Katsina.

Breaking down the distribution of the funds, Adesina said of the amount that the sum of N2,817,579,271.99 was approved for the expansion of the Lagos international airport terminal 1, the General Aviation Terminal (GAT) while the sum of N527,353,693.12 was approved for the expansion of Katsina airport.

The contract for the expansion of Cargo Apron at the international wing of the Lagos airport, the sum of N1,982,943,242.81 was approved.

While the sum of N795,976,947.94 was approved as a contract sum for the expansion of the Abuja Domestic Apron Area, the sum of N1,059,120,234.37 was approved as the contract sum to bring up to execute the expansion project of Kano airport apron Area.
