FG, address these security challenges

Published by

FOR some time now, the problem of insecurity has assumed alarming proportions. Since the past decade, expenditure on security has taken a huge chunk of the federal, state and local budgets in the country.

A situation where about 40 per cent of Nigerians, most of whom are in the youth bracket, are not gainfully employed smacks of a missing link in governance.

Another factor is the issue of lop sided development. It is difficult for the government to reach many aggrieved youths because there are hardly any good roads through which development can be spread to all the nooks and crannies of the country.

Many innocent people have been killed while property worth millions of naira has been destroyed for no just cause. The Federal Government has failed to bring many of the perpetrators of crimes to book.

The emergence of extremist groups such as Boko Haram and Badoo which derive joy in seeing fellow human beings beings slaughtered like domestic animals and rendered homeless is a big problem.

It is clear that Boko Haram members are not unlettered, as they were formerly described. There are highly educated people among them and their dream is for Nigeria to smoke disintegrate.

The  bombing of churches, mosques, schools, government buildings and others has11 equally put Nigeria on the global terror list, which means that the Federal Government has to improve on the welfare of security agencies in Nigeria.

Boko Haram members and other terrorists are not spirits but human beings like us. one thing the government has failed to do is to smoke out the sponsors of the  terrorists.
