The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), on Thursday, revealed its plans to release 2020 staff promotion letters in no distance period, as well as conducting staff promotion examination annually, starting 2021.
Permanent Secretary, FCTA, Mr Olusade Adesola, made this revelation in his office while playing host to the executive committee of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCTA/Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) Chapel, Abuja.
Mr. Adesola further said under his watch, overheads to SDAs are now being paid regularly while FCT Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) was gradually shoring up.
He, therefore, lauded journalists in the country for their contributions to the growth and development of Nigeria, saying globally, journalists are veritable tools for nation-building, especially as watchdogs of the society.
According to him: “Journalists, the world over, are extremely important in any modern society, not only for purpose of information gathering and dissemination but also veritable tools for nation-building as watchdogs of the society.”
He then charged Information Officers in the employ of the FCTA to strive to keep abreast of the latest trends in information dissemination technology as well as the mainstream traditional media.
Earlier, the leader of the committee and Chairman, NUJ, FCTA/FCDA Chapel, Comrade Kalu Emetu, told the permanent secretary that the purpose of the visit was to officially introduce the executive members to him.
He, therefore, appealed to him to look into the plight of information officers in all the SDAs, saying the majority of them are constantly marginalized and treated as endangered species.
