Farounbi, Adesola, Bamiji, Ogunyemi, 26 other media veterans to receive award of excellence on Tuesday

Former Ambassador to the Philippines, Yemi Farounbi; former secretary to the Oyo State government, Chief Bisi Adesola; former director of programmes, Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS), Chief Bamiji Ojo; first General Manager, Television Service of Oyo State, Engineer Lateef Busari are among 30 media veterans to receive an award of excellence, on Tuesday.

The award is to be given out by Agidigbo FM, Ibadan in commemoration of the radio station’s one-year anniversary.

Head of the station, Mr Adebayo Yusuf, who made this known to journalists, on Monday, said the recipients were found worthy of the award having distinguished themselves in media practice, over the years.

Adebayo said other media veterans to be awarded include, former programme coordinator, BCOS, Mr Yanju Adegbite; incumbent General Manager, BCOS, Prince Dotun Oyelade; zonal director, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Ibadan network centre, Mrs Bolatito Joseph; veteran broadcasters, Yemi Ogunyemi and Alhaji Kola Bolomope.

Other veterans to be awarded include, former general manager, BCOS, Chief John Fademi; former news manager, Nigerian Television Authority, Ibadan, Reverend Biodun Aladekomo; Mr Dotun Saseyi of Petals FM; Mr Olaolu Olatunbosun; Prince Biodun Sanda, Chief Tubosun Oladapo, Mr Femi Ibiyemi; Mrs Kemi Ajayi; Chief Ayodele Adeyemo, Paston Akin Akinsolugba among others.

The Agidigbo FM head of station further disclosed that the line-up of activities for the anniversary include giving charitable donation to schools, doing endowment fund, launching interest-free cooperative society and randomly picking cart pushers and other people doing menial businesses at markets in Ibadan with a view to empowering them.

Speaking further, Adebayo reiterated that the station remained undeterred in its core mission of alleviating poverty, being the voice of the voiceless and fighting human rights abuses.
