Just before the country went to the polls to elect a new president, IFEDAYO OGUNYEMI spoke with select youths from the tech and climate sectors, among others on their expectations from the new government which will now be formed by the president-elect and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.

I hope for an enabling environment that would foster innovation, creativity, and growth in the tech industry. Specifically, I hope for improved infrastructure, support for innovation, and investment in quality education.
Additionally, I seek a simplified regulatory framework and government-private sector collaboration.
Finally, I hope for a president that would represent us with dignity on the global stage.
These changes would make it easier for tech companies to operate in Nigeria, help Nigerian tech companies grow and compete globally, and ensure that Nigerian tech talents have the necessary skills, knowledge and resources to compete in the global tech industry.
I hope we can get these, among several other things from the incoming president.

There should be an inclusive review of our constitution. There needs to be a second look at the laws governing us. I also want to see an administration that focuses on a knowledge-driven economy. Countries in the global south, especially India, are doing this and Nigeria has it in abundance. Security will solve some of the ongoing unrest and youth empowerment will address our high unemployment rate – these two are crucial and form part of my expectations.
Mrs Olufunke Oluwatobiloba-Ojelabi
My expectations are quite enormous; however, I strongly believe this transition should bring about feasible transformation into new experiences. This will not be done overnight. As I have heard one of the presidential candidates saying one of his missions is to take Nigerians out of poverty and consumption into production. So, my expectations are not theoretical presentations but to have a practical implementation of the right policies, strategies that will lead towards the kind of nation we all prayed for.
I look forward to seeing more focus on education, issues of power for business people and of course creating simplified, practical and sustainable policies that will assist Nigerians here at home and diaspora to believe in our nation and start doing their investment here in Nigeria.
Also, we must know that leadership is not enough, it must be coupled with professionalism that will eventually metamorphose our nation back to the giant of Africa that we were. Thank you
Olumide Idowu
My main hopes and expectations is to see trustworthy leaders take charge of affairs in order to build a better Nigeria.
As a climate change advocate, It will be a grievous mistake if we elect climate change deniers in the 2023 general elections.
It is the most important issue in the world today, which is why we are asking citizens, especially those who live in places where climate change is a problem, to make sure they recycle their PVCs.
