Every artiste I’ve worked with brings their own unique vibe ― Alex ‘Tone’ Guerrero

Published by

Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Alexandro Pedro Guerrero better known as HIGHTONE or ‘Tone’ may have emerged as one of the most talked-about in the music industry today but music production wasn’t always at the forefront for Tone.

The Stockton, California native revealed this during a brief chat with R opening up on what led him into music production among other entertainment-related gigs he handles.

According to him, “The main reason I got into music production in the first place was because I was unable to find any producers that could replicate what I had in my mind. I needed someone who could reproduce exactly what I want, the melodies and all just like I hear it in my head. It isn’t always easy trying to explain what you want exactly and/or how you want a beat/song to sound. Starting out I couldn’t afford the kind of producers or production work I wanted, that’s when I decided why not DIY ‘Do It Yourself. So I set out to learn music production so I can produce for myself and others” he said. “I was so determined yet such a novice. I realised I needed a mentor and someone to teach and direct me” says Alex.

Guerrero has had the opportunity of working as a session guitarist for several Grammy Awards winning, producers and songwriters and was able to learn a great deal. It also presented him with the chance to contribute to song cuts for artistes such as CRSB, Adrian Marcel & FireboyDML.

As his production skills grew, he got more confident and decided to produce a couple of projects for upcoming and established acts. One of Tone’s special talents is knowing how to motivate the artistes he works with the right lines or melodies that will captivate their audience.

With his combination of strings, sounds and melodies, he knows how best to bring out the right emotions from an artiste to enable their fans/listeners to understand where they are coming from.

Hightone prides himself on being able to create a unique blend of emotions through his musical productions so that whoever listens to it is taken on a magical journey through time.

“It’s always a privilege to produce projects with artistes I grew up listening to. Every artiste I’ve worked with brings their own unique vibe, I enjoyed making music with all of them,” he said.
