Engaging the youth

Published by

THE youth are the strong pillars that uphold the nation in all ramifications. It a pity that Nigerian youths are nowhere to be found in any sector where they should be making use of their dexterity in terms of natural endowment to develop the nation. Who is to blame in this regard? The fact remains that Nigerian leaders are the culprits of the abnormality in behavioural attitude of the youth in the society.

The youth who are jobless will definitely be engaged by the devil to perpetrate criminality in the society. The youth that our leaders had failed to engage will eventually disengage the people in authority. These youths are frustrated and they are ready to disrupt various activities meant for the public. The aggrieved youths should be massively engaged in the area of farming and small scale businesses rather than being subjected to roaming the streets causing hostility on a daily basis.

The previous protest by the youth was as a result of lackadaisical attitude of our leaders to empower them on time. Apparently, the Senate leader, Ahmad Lawan had promised that their requests would be implemented within two weeks.

People in authority should endeavour to take pragmatic action that will meet the needs of the aggrieved youth so as to prevent a repeat of such deadly protest and social vices in the country. The previous losses had created monumental pains in the hearts of everyone. We, therefore, implore our leaders to be more proactive on a policy that will put an end to the suffering of the youth and citizenry.
