Election is not won on altar of Violence, Egwu tells Umahi

Published by
The Senator Representing Ebonyi North Senatorial zone, Senator Sam Egwu has called on Governor David Umahi to be mindful of his utterances against his persons in the name of the campaign.
According to Egwu,  elections are not won on the altar of violence or blackmail.
Senator Egwu said this while reacting to a statement credited to Governor Umahi during the APC rally in 135 Ezzamgbo, in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of the State ordering him to discontinue his political ambition on the bases of fairness, equity and justice.
According to Egwu, Gov Umahi lacks the competence and moral will to ask him to step down from his senatorial ambition.
Senator Egwu who is the first Executive Governor of the State said that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has been and will remain a peaceful party that will always win elections in the State for anchoring its ideology on the welfare of the people.
Senator Egwu who disclosed at his country home, Umuebe Ezzamgbo in the Ohaukwu local government Area of the State, described the statement as unfortunate”.
“How can a governor who contested presidential primaries and failed woefully, thereafter came down to his zone and snatched a senatorial ticket from a woman be calling on another person, from another zone and in a different Party to step down”?
Senator Egwu then advised Governor Umahi to relinquish his senatorial ambition and return the ticket to Princess Ann Agom Eze who is the rightful owner to avoid the impending disgrace.
The PDP Senatorial candidate for Ebonyi North zone described Um ahi’s decision as not only an imposition of his candidature on his party and the people but a violation of the right of Princess Ann Agom Eze as a woman, using his position as the governor.
“Is it not deceitful that the same Governor Umahi who had placed me in a superlative position will turn around to compare me with Nwebonyi”.
“It’s unheard of asking a better candidate to step down his contest for someone not suitable for the respected position of a senator. The unguided utterances by Governor Umahi are a true manifestation of his pang of confusion. I can only advise the people of Ebonyi North zone to ignore him.
