El-Zakzaky suffered two stroke in detention ― Shi’ites allege

The Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) has alleged that their leader, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, has suffered two stroke while being detained.

IMN also known as Shi’ites, however, called for the release of the Sheikh and his wife for immediate medical attention.

This is contained in a statement issued in by Abdullahi Musa, on behalf of the Academic Forum of the Islamic movement.

“It should also be noted that the Sheikh has already suffered two strokes in more than half a decade in detention. Both Sheikh El-Zakzaky and his wife need urgent interventions to salvage their health.

“Therefore, there is no stopping us from condemning and protesting against all this, unless our leader is released unconditionally,” the statement said.

The statement narrated that “after the 2015 massacre, Sheikh El-Zakzaky and his wife, through their chief counsel, Femi Falana, SAN, approached the Federal High Court, Abuja for the enforcement of their fundamental rights. On December 2, 2016, the court ordered Buhari to release the couple unconditionally.

“The Buhari regime, not happy with the historic judgement because it didn’t go its way, ignored the order and concocted charges against the ailing couple to maintain legal cover for Buhari and the regime’s intent to hold them in detention in perpetuity, and the two were transferred to the unhealthy prison in Kaduna.

“The counsel has since taken the necessary legal steps to bring the new series of trumped-up charges to an end despite the Kaduna state government’s prosecutor playing the familiar game of delaying tactics to prolong the case indefinitely, without any regard for the couple’s fragile and deteriorating health.

“Clear and distinct, all those in whose so-called names Sheikh El-Zakzaky and his wife remain incarcerated in Kaduna overcrowded prison are Buhari’s mere remote-controlled tools, for the buck stops at his own table alone. Therefore, Buhari is to blame for the Sheikh’s terrible ordeal in its entirety.
