Ekiti 2022: I have offered myself as arrowhead for Ekiti’s transformation ― Adaramodu

A leading governorship aspirant in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Mr Kayode Adaramodu, has said he offered himself to contest the June 18 election so as to engineer the transformation and development of the state.

The former Guarantee Trust bank boss noted that in the last few years, he had studied and identified the challenges facing the state and that with his rich experience in the private sector, he would deliver when given the mandate.

Adaramodu who stated this while speaking with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital on Friday, explained that he would be contesting the January 26 PDP primary election to win, considering his experience and overwhelming supports from members of the party.

According to him, “I have offered to be the arrowhead of this transformation and new orientation in Ekiti starting with the 2022 governorship poll. I am not a newcomer in Ekiti politics; I have the full picture and understanding of the challenges of our people.

“Right now in my vision for Ekiti, I look ahead and behold the beauty of a time when an average Ekiti man and woman would have the opportunity to develop and maximise their respective potentials without hind or let when basic amenities of life would no longer be luxuries to our people when social demarcations and economic gaps would thin down or fade away. This is a tall dream and it looks far from us, but I am convinced, it is possible.

“For all these to happen, some things must give way, some people must stand up to be counted. No change will happen as long as we continue on the same path, leaving the space and stage for those that led us to this point and other pretenders in the political space.”

He disclosed that the national leadership of the party has been meeting with the aspirants and other stakeholders ahead of the primaries, expressing optimism that the party would be more stronger and united after the shadow poll in a bid to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to him, the possibility of the party and stakeholders deciding for a consensus candidate for the primary cannot be ruled out, adding he is concerned with the interest of Ekiti people, not his personal interest.

He, however, urged the party to, in the interest of justice and fairness support the emergence of a candidate from the southern senatorial district, this he said would boost the chances of the opposition party the poll.

“I am contesting not because I am from the south but from Ekiti to win. But I think it is just fair for the south to produce the next governor and on this issue, we have notified the leadership which we are hoping they will consider.

“My party has the capacity to win the June 18 governorship poll if we are united. No single individual can win the election. We need unity of purpose and togetherness to upstage the ruling APC, without which will be difficult.

“So, because I recognised the importance of unity and in the party, from day one, even before I declared my interest, I have started talking to the two gladiators and appealing to them.”
