Eid-ul-Fitr: Sustain ideals of Ramadan, Governor Sani Bello urges Muslims

Published by

Niger State Governor and Chairman of North Central States Governors’ Forum (NCSGF), Abubakar Sani Bello has enjoined Muslims to sustain the ideals of the month of Ramadan beyond the Ramadan period.

The Governor, in a statement, urged Muslims to remain steadfast in the worship of Allah and to follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as they did during the holy month of Ramadan.

Bello tasked Muslims to continue to uphold the ideals of piety, patience, tolerance, perseverance, humility and self-denial which were observed vigorously during the month of Ramadan.

The governor said the Ed-ul-Fitr celebration should be seen by all as another opportunity to remain devoted and submissive to the will of the Almighty Allah.

“The end of Ramadan should not mean an end to the virtues of benevolence, good neighbourliness and tolerance which, in the last one month, characterized Muslims’ private and public life,” he stated.

He called on the followers of all religions to tolerate one another and assist the less privileged in society as the surest way of reducing poverty and the attendant consequences that comes with it.

The governor enjoined Muslims to use the Eid-ul-Fitr season to forgive and love one another while emphasizing the need for all Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of peace, love and tolerance which are the significance of the celebration.

He also called on all Nigerians to reflect and use the period to pray to Allah to provide solutions to the myriad of challenges facing the nation.

The governor, in a retrospective look at the eight years of his administration, said his government has within these years tried to reset the trajectory of the state for true greatness, stressing that it has strived to bridge the infrastructural gap and enhanced the state’s economic growth.

He called on Nigerlites to give their unflinching support to the incoming government to enable it to consolidate on the gains recorded by the outgoing administration.
