Edo varsity VC hails accreditation of law faculty

Published by

The vice chancellor of Edo State University (ESU), Uzairue, Professor Emmanuel Aluyor, has hailed the recent full accreditation of the institution’s Law programme by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Aluyor said that the feat, which tallied with the university’s consistent efforts to build a robust and qualitative educational foundation, followed a thorough review of the report of an accreditation visit of the NUC to the institution between last March and April.

Buoyed by the development, he remarked that till date, all programmes presented for accreditation by the university had been approved by the NUC and earned accreditation status, with a minimum score of 78 per cent.

The vice chancellor noted that professional courses like medicine, nursing, medical laboratory science, engineering, law and accounting also had approvals and full accreditation status from the professional regulatory body.

He added that the law faculty made use of modern legal software, robust law library, legal clinic, standard and functional moot court and students-industry engagement, to prepare them for the task ahead.

Aluyor noted that the institution’s policy of ‘no strike actions, by the lecturers, interruptions of academic calendar and the timely completion of academic programmes was a fulfilment of the management’s promise to adhere strictly to its academic calendar.

He noted that the feat was in line with the university’s pledge to graduate students as at when due, just as online lectures and examinations were held during the peak of the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020.
