The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Dan Orbih, the National Vice Chairman (South-South) of the party.
This decision was made during the 588th meeting held on Wednesday in Abuja, where various issues were discussed, including complaints regarding activities related to the September 21, 2024 Governorship election in Edo State.
According to a statement issued by Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary, the NWC unanimously condemned what it described as Dan Orbih’s embarrassing actions and statements concerning the Edo State Governorship Primary Election.
These actions were deemed inconsistent with the provisions of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017) and the responsibilities of his position as a national party officer.

The statement announced the formation of a six-member committee, chaired by Deputy National Chairman (South) Amb. Taofeek Arapaja, to investigate the matter.
“As a result, the NWC has constituted a six-member committee led by Deputy National Chairman (South) Amb. Taofeek Arapaja to investigate this issue in accordance with the Party’s Constitution.
“Meanwhile, Chief Dan Orbih is suspended with immediate effect from participating in all NWC meetings, activities, and programs pending the conclusion of the committee’s investigation,” the statement read.
The NWC acknowledged “the overwhelming support and solidarity of the people of Edo State who are standing with our Party and Candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, whose vision aligns with the desires and aspirations of the people for continued extensive development of the State under the PDP banner.”
It urged all leaders, key stakeholders, and members of the party in Edo State to remain united, focused, and continue working diligently for the victory of the PDP and its candidate in the upcoming Governorship election in the state.
It should be noted that last month, the Edo State Working Committee of the PDP expelled Dan Orbih and former Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu for alleged anti-party activities.
