The Chairman Board of Governors, Dowen College, Lekki Lagos, Dr Olumide Phillips, has said he had been in constant communication with the family of Sylvester Oromini over the death of their son, a 12-year-old student of the school.
In a letter, a copy of which obtained by Tribune Online, on Sunday evening, the Chairman of the board and proprietor, sympathised again with the family and assured to visit them once an appropriate time is fixed.
Oromoni(jr), who was in JSS2, was said to have died from the injuries he sustained during an assault by his seniors, who wanted to force him to join a cult group.
The chairman said in the letter addressed to the deceased parents that “My family and I, the Board of Governors, Patrons and Patronesses of Dowen College Lagos are deeply saddened by the sudden demise of your dearly beloved son and our treasured and loved student Sly as he was fondly called by all.
“The students and staff of Dowen College are grieving as a family because of this incident and we pray to God Almighty to grant you succour and fortitude to bear this enormous and irredeemable loss.
“I personally express my sympathy and pray God will grant you the grace and mercies for the rest of your lives.
The chairman, however, expressed assurances that the school is offering full cooperation and support to the investigators who will see that justice is served accordingly on the matter.
