South Africa based Nigerian artist and producer Desmond Obianuju Enujeko aka Doe Billz has called on Nigerian youths to pay more attention to the affairs of the nation by taking up active roles in politics and governance. He made the call while hinting about his joint EP release this coming weekend.
Speaking with Tribune Online, the budding singer stated that “Being nonchalant or uninterested in the affairs and issues affecting the nation won’t make them go away. Lack of adequate youths in governance and politics doesn’t help the representation of the youth in the corridors of government,” Doe Billz said.
He called on the youth to register as card-
carrying members of any political party of their choice so they can be in position to vie for elective offices. He urged the youth to ensure that they get their permanent voters card (PVC) so they can cast their votes in 2023 for their preferred candidate.
Doe Billz further stated that getting involved in governance is the only way to ensure the youth participate in decision and policy making in the country. He however pointed out that voting is the constitutional right of every Nigerian citizen and the only way to make sure only qualified candidates are voted into elective positions.
“Everyone must not belong to a political party or run for elective office, but everybody must be involved in the electoral process by ensuring we are eligible to vote by getting our PVC”.
He further called on the electoral commission to find ways of making it possible for Nigerians living in the diaspora to be able to register to cast their votes too.
Doe Billz born Desmond Obianuju Enujeko is a singer, songwriter, producer, performing artist and Philanthropist from Delta state.
