The dream of a wildlife and leisure parks in Delta State has hit the rocks as the state government makes a U-turn by divesting its interest in the projects.
The wild life park was being established in Ogwashi uku while the leisure park was located in Warri of which the present administration has returned the land acquired for the purpose to the communities.
Addressing journalists in Asaba, on the issue at an interactive session, the state governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa said the state government which was deceived into the project decided to wash off its hand because the private sector partners were not sincere and that there was no sign of any wild life park.
According to him, the state government would not continue with the projects because no investor had come for the wild life park stressing that even at Oleri Park, the investor had turned into a contractor.
Speaking on the Asaba airport, the governor disclosed that one of the three runways and the taxiway has been fixed while the other two runways would be ready by July.
