The Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim (ESOCS) Worldwide, has charged the Federal Government to declare a national state of emergency on the growing unemployment rate in Nigeria to prevent it from worsening the present security situation.
On behalf of the church, Dr David D. L. Bob-Manuel made this call at a media briefing held recently in Lagos, to mark the fourth anniversary of his induction as the Baba Aladura, Moses Orimolade IX, and the Prelate of ESOCS Worldwide.
The prelate stated that it had become imperative for those in authority to address the growing unemployment because of its likelihood of further igniting tension and worsening the security situation in the country.
According to him, getting a decent job had become a huge challenge for young graduates in the country, while the processes to securing the available few ‘appeared not to be fair’.
He, however, counseled that the nation’s educational curriculum be tweaked to encourage the teaching of the anchor and entrepreneurial skills relevant to today’s market situation.
The cleric also described as dangerous the issues of homosexuality and lesbianism presently finding their way into the body of Christ.
“It is also disturbing that some churches are now (or contemplating to) ordaining known homosexuals as priests. This is an affront and abomination to the Christian faith,” he added.
The Baba Aladura, however, vowed that ESOCS, as a church, would resist any form of sodomy in the church and would never allow any gay priest in its midst.
He stated that since assuming office as the prelate of the church four years ago, his focus had been on building a virile and righteous body of Christ.
The Church, he added, had also witnessed a tremendous growth in terms of membership and construction of physical infrastructure.
“We’ve also continued to focus on the spiritual growth as well as economic emancipation of our members which has led to our collaboration with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and the formation of the ESOCS Micro Finance Bank, while fulfilling our corporate social responsibility (CSR),” he stated.
