One of the best things about the current season is the abundance of mangoes. Their luscious golden flesh, sweet juiciness in every bite and pleasant aroma have left a special place in our hearts. But, beyond their irresistible flavour, also comes the question: how many mangoes should one eat during the summer?

To maintain a healthy lifestyle and a perfect balance between guilt-free enjoyment, mangoes should always be consumed in moderation. But before getting to know how much one should eat, let’s understand its nutritional profile. High in Vitamins and Minerals: Mangoes are tropical gems that consist of essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamins C, A, folate and potassium with natural sugar content. Digestive Health: Mangoes contain natural enzymes which aid in the breakdown and digestion of protein and carbohydrates. Mangoes are rich in fibre that supports healthy digestion, preventing constipation and promoting regular bowel movements. Mangoes are also a great source of vitamin A and beta-carotene, essential for maintaining healthy eyesight. These nutrients prevent eye diseases such as night blindness, dry eyes and age-related macular degeneration. Mangoes are high in vitamin C which strengthen the immune system and helps fight off the infections. They also contain phytonutrients that contains antimicrobial properties, further leading to immune defense. Mango contains nutrients that support a healthy heart. It offers magnesium and potassium, which help maintain a healthy blood flow. Mangoes also contain a super antioxidant mangiferin that also appears good for heart health. It is always recommended to consume about one to two medium-sized mangoes per day. This amount provides essential nutrients without impacting calorie intake. Individuals with dietary requirements and calorie intake should be cautious. Those suffering from high blood sugar levels, should consume less mangoes as they are high in calories and natural sugar content. It is also important to note that individuals can also develop a mango allergy. It is relatively rare but can cause symptoms like skin reactions, oral allergies, gut health issues and respiratory problems.
