Cross River fails if Governor-elect Otu doesn’t succeed — Group

Amidst litigations, grievances and the recent resolve to seek redress at the elections petition tribunals, politicians in Cross River have been asked to shade their sword and rather join hands with the Governor-elect Bassey Edet Otu, to avoid letting the State fails.

In a statement signed by Comrade Nji Nji, Director General of the Cruise Movement in Cross River state, and made available to Sunday Tribune in Calabar, Nji warned that dragging the Governor-elect (Bassey Otu) and his deputy to Court will amount to serious governmental distractions.

“Prince Bassey Otu (Governor-elect) will take the mantle of leadership of this State in less than two months from today, so as a people, we have the collective responsibility of helping him to succeed.

“If we want him to succeed, we must see the task of building this state (Cross River State) as a collective one. Cross River belongs to all of us and not Prince Otu or his party, (the APC) alone. If he succeeds, Cross River succeeds,” Nji said.

On issues of litigations, Nji advised Senator Sandy Onor, the flag bearer of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 elections in the State to come to join hands and build the state, rather than seek redress in Court.

“As it’s often said, a leader is the reflection of his subjects. Leaders generally are as bad or as good as their followers make them. If we want the new administration to be the super administration that the Governor-elect has the capacity to establish, we must be super followers as well.

“We want to appeal to all Cross Riverians to come and join hands with Prince Otu to make Cross River great. We call on the candidate of the PDP, Senator Sandy Onor and other candidates, traditional leaders, opinion leaders, market women, union leaders, to come join our Governor-elect to work for Cross River.”

Recall that since the PDP governorship candidate, Sandy Onor, opted to seek redress in Court, there have been several calls from different groups and individuals asking him to do otherwise, with some even condemning his resolve to seek redress in Court after the polls.
