CP Disu returns to Rivers as Police redeploy senior officers

A former Commander in charge of the Intelligent Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, CP Olatunji Disu and 39 other senior officers have been redeployed by the Inspector General of Police, IGP ,Kayode Egbetokun.

The Force public relation officer, Muyiwa Adejobi confirmed the deployment of CP Disu and other senior police officers in a statement he personally signed on Thursday.

Disu, a seasoned crime burster has been deployed as the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State.

The new Rivers State Police boss is not new in the state as he previously served as Divisional Police Officer in charge of Elimbu and Elelenwo Divisional Police Stations, Commander Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Commander Anti Kidnapping Squad and Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigations Department before he was transferred to head the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Lagos.

Police spokesperson, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi said “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has ordered the posting and redeployment of 40 Senior Police Officers comprising 14 Assistant Inspectors General of Police and 26 Commissioners of Police to various Commands and Formations in the country as part of mandate to have a professionally competent, service driven, rule of law compliant, and people friendly Police Force, and to reflect the new status of senior officers who were just recently elevated to their next ranks.

Adejobi stated that “The Inspector General of Police has charged the newly posted/redeployed officers to work in tandem with the Force policy and support the agenda of government for economic recovery and growth as well as socio-political development of the country.”

“He also stressed the importance of entrenching professionalism and diligent policing services to all officers and men under their command, while calling on them to partner with all relevant stakeholders to bring policing closer to the people. ”
