COVID-19: Death hits 14 in Sokoto, no new case recorded

The number of fatalities recorded related to COVID-19 pandemic has increased to fourteen as on Sunday.

This is contained in a statement from the official Twitter handle of the state ministry of health on Sunday.

Tribune Online reports that the number of COVID-19 casualties in the state before then was thirteen which includes those that died at home which was later suspected to be COVID-19 related.

However, the statement further stated that the state did not record any new COVID-19 positive case, just as the number of COVID-19 positive case in the state remains 116, with just only 12 active cases.

The total number of COVID-19 tests done in the state remains 617 out of which 501 of such returned negative.

The number of COVID-19 patients discharged from all the isolation centres in the state remains 90, while the total number of pending tests being expected is 10.

Meanwhile, in its effort to curtail the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the state Tasks Force committee distributed facemasks to Jumaat mosque across the state.

Speaking, the Chairman of the Tasks Force and the Commissioner for health, Dr Muhammed Ali Inname, said the wearing of facemasks is necessary where there is no total lockdown in order to curtail the spread of the COVID-19.

He said this is why the Tambuwal administration purchased adequate facemasks for distribution to the people of the state for free.

The chairman was represented at the distribution by the Special Adviser on Student matters to the governor, Comrade Bashir Gorau, who is also a member of the state Tasks Force on COVID-19.
