As church buildings are being reopened and activities resuming, church leaders have been charged to get close to their members so as to make them see the importance of congregational service.
This charge was made by the General Overseer of New Life For All Nations Ministry, Pastor Sunday Edokpayi.
The cleric told Tribune Churchnews, at the church’s headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State, that since most churches had conducted their services online during the lockdown, it might be hard for some members to resume physical attendance in church post-lockdown.
Edokpayi was optimistic that if this could be done, the Nigerian church could be assured of seeing as many members as it used to be before the lockdown.
He said: “In a situation where holding and attending church service is now possible on the Internet, radio and television, we may have to contend with people not coming to church again.
“Now that the church is opening again, I encourage church leaders to move close their members to make them see the importance of fellowshipping together. If this can be done, we will have the same result as we used to have,” he added.
