Chief Magistrate P. O. Adetoyibo of Family Court 2, Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State has remanded two accused persons in prison for allegedly defiling a minor and a 14-year-old girl (names withheld).

They were arraigned by the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), on Thursday.

Disclosing this in a statement, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Oluwole Olusegun said that the state Commandant, Michael Adaralewa, spoke on the arraignment at the command headquarters, Agodi, Ibadan.

Tribune Online learnt that the first suspect, Kayode Akinsile (60) of Alafara Ona Ara, Ibadan, was first arrested on June 15 and was granted bail, but went ahead to defile another minor and was rearrested on July 7.

The second suspect, Dr Ajelere Ajewumi, (68), from Oki Olodo, Ibadan, was arrested for illegal adoption and defilement of the 14-year-old girl.

The Chief Magistrate, after the court charges against the two accused persons, were read, remanded them at Abolongo Correctional Centre, Oyo, till September.

Adaralewa said that the two suspects were arraigned after medical examination and a thorough investigation of the victims.

He advised parents to exhibit more responsibility in taking care of their children, while he encouraged the children to be disciplined and be good ambassadors of their various homes and families.

The Commandant warned those still indulging in the defilement of minors or assault of women to desist, as the NSCDC would deal decisively with anybody caught in such act.
