Court remands man, 57 for allegedly raping minor in Osun

A Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State capital has ordered that a 57-year-old man identified as Moses Oloko be remanded in prison for allegedly raping a minor.

The accused person was docked on three count charges including unlawful carnal knowledge, indecent assault and sexual exploitation.

The Police prosecutor, ASP Taiwo Adegoke informed the court that the accused person committed the offence on the 25th of May, 2020 around10:30am at Oke-Mission area, Ejigbo.

According to him, “Oloko unlawfully had carnal knowledge of a 12-year-old girl (name withheld), indecently assaulted more than ten times and giving his victim N100 each time he had carnal knowledge of her.”

Adegoke further contended that the offence committed by the defendant contravened Section 31(1)(2), 32 of the Child’s Rights Law of Osun State 2007 and section 360 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. Il Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2002.

Presiding Magistrate Risikat Olayemi did not take the plea of the accused but ordered that he should be remanded in Correctional Center, just as she transferred the case to Ejigbo magistrate court.

She adjourned the case to 9 June 2020 for mention.
