The National Industrial Court has affirmed Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers.
Hon. O.O. Oyewumi, in his ruling in suit No. NICN/ABJ/263/2023, affirmed Baruwa as duly elected President of the Union.
The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Oyo State Council described the landmark judgement as a welcome development.
In a press statement signed by the Chairman, Alhaji Abideen Olajide (Ejiogbe), and Secretary, Comrade (Otunba) Lekan Aleshinloye, the latest judiciary victory is described as a landmark victory for the rule of law and a testament to the leadership of our great union’s strong belief in the Nigerian judicial system.
The affirmation of Alh. Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa’s victory has laid to rest all doubts about who the legitimate leader of NURTW is, and the Oyo State Council hereby declares its alignment with the Baruwa-led administration for a coordinated movement of the Union.
Both Abideen Ejiogbe and Lekan Alesinloye congratulate the National President, Alhaji Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa, as the duly elected and authentic President of the Great Union (NURTW).
They said, “This victory clearly lays to rest the controversies surrounding the legitimacy of the elected leader.”
In light of this, the Oyo State Council of NURTW declares its unflinching support for Alh. Baruwa’s mandate to complete his second term as President of the Great Union.
The Council implores all members of the Union in Oyo State and across the country to abide by the court judgement and realign with the constitutionally recognised leader of the Union.
This is not the time for aspersions; rather, it is a time for all members of the Union to close ranks and offer Alh. Baruwa all the necessary cooperation and support for him to succeed.
The litigation period is over; the judgement has been delivered, recognising Alh. Baruwa as the legitimately elected President of the Union. Therefore, all hands must be on deck to push forward in the right direction for the progress of NURTW nationwide.
