In compliance with the Federal Government directive, the coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kwara State, Mrs. Francisca Olaleye, has said that the permanent orientation camp in the state has been prepared as isolation centre for victims of coronavirus pandemic.
Speaking with journalists at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Yikpata, Olaleye said the camp clinic amongst other newly constructed buildings in the camp have been prepared to be used.
The NYSC coordinator said that the step is part of the efforts of the Director-General and the management of the scheme to be on the same page with government to collectively battle the deadly virus in the country.
She said that, though, the state has not recorded any case of COVID-19 at the moment according to the World Health Organisation (WHO) and Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) chart, the coordinator added that the gesture was the proactive measures of the scheme in solidarity with the government to be on steps ahead in case of any eventuality.
She appealed to members of the public to cooperate with the NCDC by adhering to instructions given on prevention of dreadful virus, COVID-19 and also stay safe at their various homes as directed by the government.
It is recalled that Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim recently directed that all the orientation camps should be prepared as isolation centres for victims of COVID-19 to receive unbridled medical attention.
