Gone are the days when the world operated in the Stone Age and crude materials such as hoes, cutlasses, stet rake etc were implemented in the Agricultural industry. Today, fashion, transportation, and entertainment industry has drastically improved, all thanks to technology. Not only has technology contributed a lot to the world but also to the educational system, slates and charcoals that were used in the olden days have now become history. The contribution of technology in education cannot be overemphasized.
Easy access to information and materials is one of the advantages the educational sector enjoys from technology. Advanced studying is achievable with the use of technology where videos of various topics and researches of many years can be searched using various search engines like Google Chrome, Opera mini to mention a few. Likewise, many techniques are available for easy assimilation of difficult concept on the net. This aspect makes learning enjoyable and fun.
One of the disadvantages derived from technology is obsession and sidetracking. Although education has greatly improved with technology, the fact that some kids in the process of researching for their assignment are being sidetracked by random pop-ups from illegal sites cannot be denied. Also, when students are not cautioned on excessive use of technology, they become obsessed with them which may affect their education seeing that time required for studying is spent on social media or surfing the net which in turn affect their grades.
There are however more advantages than disadvantages and the disadvantages can be managed. This has made me come to the conclusion that technology is useful and needful in the educational system.
