Contact lens

Published by

A  contact lens is a thin lens placed directly on the surface of the eye. Contact lenses are considered medical devices and can be worn to correct vision, or for cosmetic or therapeutic reasons.

Indeed, contact lenses are the toast of fashionistas. They prefer to go for them rather than the traditional eye glasses. This is due to the fact that they come in different shape, sizes and colours. Many lens designs are specially made to correct various types of vision problems. For instance, Spherical contact lenses are the typical, rounded design of contact lenses, which can correct myopia (nearsightedness) or hyperopic (farsightedness). We also have Bifocal contact lenses which contain different zones for near and far vision to correct presbyopia.

Orthokeratology lenses are specially designed to reshape the cornea during sleep, providing lens-free daytime wear while Toric contact lenses are used to correct astigmatism, as well as for myopia and hyperopia. According to opticians, many of these lenses can be custom made for hard to fit eyes.
