Chartered accountant declares interest in Kwara federal constituency seat

Published by

A leading chartered accountant in Kwara state, Chief Gbenle Adeyemi, has declared his intention to contest the Federal House of Representatives seat of the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero federal constituency under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking with the Tribune Online after his meeting with members of the APC Central Working Committee (CWC), stakeholders and local government executives in Ekiti local government area of the state at the weekend, the chartered accountant and business entrepreneur, who hails from the Oke-Opin community, said that his political career and professional experience would be used for development and upliftment of the people.

“If given the opportunity and win the election, I will use my professional experience to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.”

The aspirant, who recalled how he had to step down for Dr Ashaolu of Odo-Owa community in 1991 under the military regime of Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, said that the decision was borne out of his party loyalty, adding that he made the sacrifice to clear the path for the success of the then Ekiti/Oke-Ero and his political party in the polls.

At the meeting, held at the Oke-Opin primary school playground, Chief Adeyemi assured that he would fulfil all his campaign promises if given the mandate.

The aspirant, who appreciated the people of Ekiti bloc in their support of APC and Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, urged that they should continue to do so by getting their PVCs which he believed is the greatest means to be involved in building a better Kwara State.

Meanwhile, the political campaign of the aspirant received a boost at the weekend, as the serving member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Tijani Kayode Ismail promised to buy the APC nomination form for Chief Adeyemi for his House of Representatives ticket.

The aspirant also doled out a total sum of N5 million to the Ekiti bloc comprising Ekiti and Oke Ero local government areas; Irepodun and Isin blocs of the party during the meeting.
