Can I cut my tonsils

I have been having severe sore throat for a long time with no improvement despite a lot of antibiotics. The doctor whom I am seeing recently suggested that I should cut my tonsils as a form of lasting solution. Kindly let me know if this is correct.

Medical experts have confirmed that when carried out by a surgical expert in a good Medical facility, tonsillectomy (removal of tonsils) has proven to significantly reduce the rate of sore throat for chronic sufferers. It is also believed that since the tonsils is not that necessary, there are no long-term consequences for having them removed.

Although having your tonsils removed might result in fewer throat infections, but you can still get an infection or sore throat. However, the chances of having the infection is very limited.
