BudgIT trains journalists in Calabar on investigative journalism

BudgIT, a civic organisation that applies technology to intersect citizen engagement with institutional improvement, to facilitate societal change, has trained over 25 journalists in Cross River, on investigative journalism.

The training took place in Calabar.

Speaking about the training shortly after the event, the senior media and communication design head, Mr Kehinde Agbaje, said that the group was targeting 5,000 journalists in the next five years.

“Over the next five years, we intend to train 5,000 journalists. Journalists should know their role in the nation. We should not be moved by politicians we should do our job with objectivity.

“Journalists should know that we would not have a Nigeria if they don’t hold public office holders to account. So, let is keep up the good work.

“Whenever a government is transparent, they build trust with citizens. And our duty as BudgIT is to enlighten them on this,” he said.
