Blood pressure drugs and s3x

One of my friends informed me that the usage of Blood Pressure drugs can negatively affect a person’s s3xual performance. Kindly let me know if this is true.

Yet, it is true that some high blood pressure medicines can affect s3x drive or the quality of s3x. Some drugs known as diuretics, water pills can decrease blood flow to the penis. This can make it difficult to get an erection. They also can empty the body of zinc. Zinc is needed to make the s3x hormone testosterone. In addition, some medicines, especially older beta blockers such as propranolol (Inderal LA, Innopran XL) are often linked with s3xual problems.

Taking medicines exactly as prescribed can help lower the risk of side effects, including s3xual problems. If that doesn’t work, talk to your care provider about other medicines that may have fewer side effects. If your blood pressure medicine is causing s3xual side effects, talk to your doctor about your options. Some high blood pressure medicines are less likely to cause sex problems.

For example, switching to a newer type of beta blocker improves symptoms in some people. There are several types of blood pressure medicines that have been proved not to cause s3x problems. Ask your doctor what’s best for you. If your doctor says it’s OK, you may be able to stop taking blood pressure medicines for a short time to see if s3xual symptoms improve.

During this time, you may need to take blood pressure readings at home often to make sure your blood pressure stays in a safe range. Be sure to tell your doctor about every medicine you take, including herbal supplements and medicines you get without a prescription. Sometimes, these can lead to problems with s3x too.
